"how long is this going to take to start working?"

"how quickly can i expect to start seeing results?"

"i dont have time to waste."

the man staring at me through the zoom meeting was starting to make me anxious.

"you're building a business. great things take time & nothing easy comes without work." i leveled with him.

he didn't seem satisfied with my response.

it was mid january of 2022.

i was in orange county, california doing a sales call and running late.

i was meeting my business partner at NOBU in malibu and i was salivating at the thought of the food.

"l just found out i have stage 4 colon cancer. im trying to figure out my next move."

my appetite turned to the urge to vomit.

"oh my gosh. i'm so sorry." i stammered out, not knowing how to even respond.

he went on to tell me that he had booked this call with me in an effort to find a new stream of income.

to start a business that would produce passive income.

one that would run on its own.

he wasn't saying it but he was making sure his family was taken care of when he died.

i don't remember any of the details after that.

i felt sick & could barely hear the things he was saying.

what i do remember is how the call ended. he thanked me for my time & said something i'll never forget:

"life is short nick, go buy time."

the facts

the reality is, we have one life.

& time aint slowin down for any of us.

its one of the only things we can't get back.

yet 95% of the population is trading their most precious resource for dollars.

you can never become free trading your time for dollars.

regardless of the hourly amount.

if you aren't working, the money stops coming in.

you will never become free.

forever a slave to the work.

what you can do today

start.

begin spending time building/creating an asset.

something that you can build once & will pay you again & again & again.

assets are the simplest way to start buying your time back.

it can be a piece of music.

a video that will live on the internet forever.

a community you can eventually charge people to become members of.

or a simple little website that generates phone calls.

spend 1 hour this week building/creating an asset.

do it again next week.

& the next.

make a goal spend 1 hour a week building assets.

you'll be surprised what you can create in 12 months.

go do. go take action. go create.
